Sunny Windlesham

Our Lady President, Sue Symons, once again hosted her President's Day at Windlesham Golf Club on what turned out to be a beautiful sunny day on July 17. Twenty four players competed for the President's Trophy going out to play an individual stableford in groups of three, arranged in handicap order.

The course requires a lot of managment to avoid the many and varied water hazards with those who played in the competition last year all too conscious of the potential pitfalls of wayward shots. However there were some very good scores posted.

The overall winner, Hilary Wynter, proved that having played the course before could be an advantage. The winning score was 37 points and, the field having been divided into 2 in handicap order, Hilary was also the divison one winner with second place going to Anne Trinklein with 34 points. A further seven players posted scores of 32 points.

In division two Kate Pinto came first with 35 points, also winning the President's Salver, and Claire Gearing was second with 31 points. There were three separate nearest the pins prizes which went to Pauline Burrow, Chloe Ryan and Caroline Theyer as well as miscellaneous other prizes.

The golf was followed by a delicious tea and a chance to catch up with friends and put faces to some of our newer members.

As Hilary said on the day, our thanks to Sue for all her organisation, the lovely prizes and a very enjoyable day. Thanks too to all at Windlehsam for making us welcome and looking after us so well.
