The final of the 2023 Legal Eagle Knockout competition took place at Wildernesse Golf Club in early March 2024 between Ingrid Long (Sundridge Park) and Nicola Johnson (Royal Ashdown Forest). Ours thanks to Diana Reese for organising the venue and playing host to the match.
The day was warm and sunny and the match was tightly contested. Both players played well and demonstrated an excellent short game despite the little occasion for practice afforded by the unrelenting rain over the winter months. In the end a wayward tee shot from Ingrid found the woods making a good recovery shot impossible and Nicola was able to clinch the victory on the 16th Hole.
Sue Symons, Diana Reese and Gillie Galloway walked round with the match and thoroughly enjoyed the contest.
The Legal Eagle Trophy was presented to Nicola after the match and both players received prizes.
