Field Day 2nd July 2024

Once again The Berkshire hosted the Field Day, the annual competition organised by the Ladies Joint Golf Association between the the Ladies Legal Golf Association (LLGA), the Ladies Medical Golf Society (LMGS), the United Services Ladies Golf Association (USLGA), the Lady Parliamentary Golf Association and the Senior Women's Golf Association (SWGA).

The day was unseasonably cold and at times rain threatened but thankfully all the players managed to get round without getting wet.

Both courses were in wonderful condition with the greens playing fast and true and all the players very much enjoyed the competition and the opportunity to catch up with friends in all the associations.

Twenty four Legals represented the Society on the day. Sadly our captain, Sarah Brownlee, had a hair-raising breakdown on her way to The Berkshire in the morning and was unable to make it, she was very much missed but fortunately she managed to get home safely and the AA man lived to tell the tale.

The best four scores from players on the red course are added to the best four from players on the blue course to make the team's score. The team with the best overall score wins the Field Day trophy. This year the SWGA received the trophy with the USLGA and LMGS a mere two and four points behind respectively. The LLGA were pushed into fourth place.

Kate Pinto won the LLGA trophy for the best individual score of the team having scored 38 points on the Blue Course, narrowly beating Jo Chatwin who scored 37 points on the Red Course.

L to R Kate Pinto, Belinda Rattray, Claire Gearing (at Back), Mohak Ogilvie (front), Marian Raybone (back), Fran Chatham, Pauline Burrow, Hilary Wynter, Ann Cockroft, Ingrid Long, Jo Chatwin, Deborah Wilson, Diana Reese and Vicki Soutar.

The LMGS helped run the Field Day this year and their Captain, Angela Lewis, thanked Debbie Blackwell, Secretary of the LJGA and Ione Inman, Chairman of the LJGA, both of whom are stepping down from their roles with the LJGA this year, for all the hard work that goes into organising the Field Day.

The Berkshire provided a magnificent buffet lunch and looked after all the players extremely well. Thanks to the Berkshire for hosting the event and to Debbie Blackwell and Ione Inman for all their service to the LJGA over the last few years.
