On a glorious hot, sunny 4th September a team of Legal Ladies headed to Rye Golf Club. The LLGA team of Debbie Richards, Di Kyle, Sarah Brownlee, Jane Pettit and Claire Gearing with Sara Reston (who played for the home team) enjoyed the warm hospitality at Rye; a sandwich lunch before the match and a wonderful tea afterwards. The beautiful course was played in idyllic conditions with that rare event at a links course - a very welcome gentle breeze. A particularly high tide on the Rother surrounded the 12th tee

Sadly the home team prevailed 31/2 to 11/2.

The team stayed in Rye for the evening and were joined by two of the Rye ladies for a very convivial dinner at the Fish Cafe.

The following morning the team headed over to Royal Cinque Ports GC and were welcomed by the ladies of Deal. This time Sara Reston played for the Legals bringing the numbers up to six-a-side.

Another beautiful day but sadly the Legals were again defeated by the home team with Deal winning 31/2 to 21/2

Despite the disappointing results the ladies had great fun and thoroughly enjoyed the two days of good company and beautiful golf courses which as Debbie Richards said is just as important as the result!

Our thanks to Debbie and Sara for all the hard work that went into organising the event and to the ladies of Rye and Deal for hosting us.

The Lady President, Sue Symons, organised a wonderful day at Windlesham Golf Club in July. Twenty five legals competed in a Stableford competition playing off full handicap in groups of three. The course was in wonderful condition but for some of those who had not played it before the water hazards proved tricky to negotiate and the lost ball count was higher than usual! The ladies had to dodge a couple of heavy showers but for the most part the weather was very kind and a very enjoyable time was had by all.

The winning scores proved that not everyone had found the water. The President's Trophy was awarded to Melanie Wilson who scored 37 points and the Division 2 winner was Lynne Proctor who also scored 37 points but lost out on the trophy on count back from Melanie. Belinda Rattray was runner up in Division 1 with 35 points and Kate Carson received the Division 2 runner up prize with 34 points, just pipping Tricia Tallon on count back.

The winners went home with beautiful prizes presented by the Lady President who also very generously gave prizes for those lucky enough to score 4 points on any hole and a lucky dip prize for a non-winning score card. Windlesham provided a very good tea and easy access to the M3 for the return trip home.

Our thanks to the Lady President for organising such an enjoyable day and to Windlesham for the warm welcome.

The Field Day this year once again returned to The Berkshire and was played on both the Red and Blue courses. The team from the Legals competed against teams from the Veteran Ladies' Golf Association (VLGA), Ladies Medical Golf Society (LMGS), Ladies Parliamentary Golf Association (LPGA) and the United Services Ladies Golf Association (USLGA). The Field Day Cup was won this year by the VLGA who scored 275 points from the best four scores posted by their team on each course, narrowly beating the LMGS who scored 274 points.

Barbara Dawkins had the best score for the LLGA scoring 38 points on the Blue Course to win the LLGA trophy and 1st handicap on the Blue Course. 38 points was the top individual score on the day also attained by Carol Timmins (LMGS) on the Red Course and Judith Dingle (VLGA) on the Blue Course.

Many thanks to all who competed for the LLGA, as one of the smaller societies it is difficult to field as many competitors as the larger societies but this is always a fun day and a pleasure to play The Berkshire so look out for the date next year!
